About Checkers Legend
Checkers with the settings screen that most browser versions skip. The game exists in a dozen regional variants, so this one asks which rules you are playing under before the first move, and it takes either a simple computer opponent or a second person on the same device.
How to play
- Pick a rule variant before starting; the game supports several.
- Play against the built-in computer opponent, or pass the device back and forth with someone else.
- Standard checkers applies: pieces move diagonally, captures are made by jumping, and a piece that reaches the far row is promoted.
- The game is won by taking or trapping everything the opponent has.
Tips
- Check the rules screen before your first game. Which variant is selected changes what is legal, and losing because you assumed the other ruleset is a poor way to find out.
- Trade pieces when you are ahead on material. Checkers rewards simplification more than most board games, and the publisher describes the computer opponent as a simple one.
